Electrical Engineering

Admission Criteria for Freshmen:

Students accepted into the University as freshmen with the request to be in the electrical engineering program will be further evaluated by the department. Based upon an overall evaluation of high school records and test scores, with particular emphasis on advanced courses in math and science and test scores, freshmen may be admitted to one of two tracks:

  • FENG - Students with acceptable records will be accepted directly to the Freshman Engineering sequence.
  • PENG - Students needing additional courses before being accepted into the Freshman Engineering sequence will be advised as pre-engineers.

Admission to the Electrical Engineering program requires completion of all freshman year engineering program requirements with grades of C or better. Students from the FENG track must also have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 for all courses taken. Students from the PENG track must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 for all courses taken.

Admission Criteria for Transfer Students:

All transfer students must take the ENGR 199 and ENGR 200 sequence, regardless of current major.

Each student will be evaluated by the Program Director and placed into one of the two tracks described above, FENG or PENG.

All transfer students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 for all courses taken.
