The SmartScope Flash/Flare 200 is a computer-based bench top metrology system that performs state-of-the-art video measurement. The unit is located in the Rapid Prototype and Metrology Laboratory in the Center for Applied Technology.

The SmartScope Flash/Flare 200 is a computer-based bench top metrology system that performs state-of-the-art video measurement. The system insures precision incorporating multiple sensors; including touch trigger probes, micro-probes, and laser scanners. The Flash/Flare 200 uses Measure-X 32 bit metrology software residing on the Windows 2000 operating system. Measure-X software provides several methods on measurement accurate to within a few micrometers, which include

• distance (XYZ, polar, 3-D, point to line, point to plane)
  
• coordinate point, angle and location of line, size and location of radius or diameter
  
• location and size of width
  
• size and location of spherical radius or diameter
  
• angle of plane
  
• edge contour
