Assistant Professor & Engineering Technology Program

Dr. Anderson will be serving as the Engineering and Technology Program Director. His most recent position was as Dean of Engineering and Applied Technology at A-B Tech for 13 years. Robert worked as an Engineering Design Supervisor for Newport News Shipbuilding for many years and has also taught middle school and high school. Robert came to Western because of his love for teaching, and the new challenges a four-year university presents, as the only area of technology education that he has not participated in yet. Dr. Anderson considers his diverse educational background and community college experience in local economic development his strong points. His areas of professional interest are economic development and technology education. Dr. Anderson’s area of scholarship interest is in the educational needs and expectations of non-traditional students. Robert anticipates a great deal of external engagement with local and regional economic development stakeholders.
