Associate Professor, Electronics Engineering Technology

Professional interests include thin film sensors and the integration of technology with classroom learning. Teaching assignments include digital electronics with VHDL, microprocessor interfacing, and control.

After graduating from Brown University, Dr. Burbank entered the world of manufacturing. Over the next decade, he went from Process Engineer to Section Head for Process Development, all in the analog integrated circuit industry. In 1987, he went "back to school", and has been teaching in Engineering Technology programs since. While in Rhode Island, he taught Electronics Engineering Technology and participated in thin film device research. After moving to Virginia, his role became program development and leadership. Interfacing the University with the engineering community has become a passion, and has been active in local sections of SME, IEEE, and the Richmond Joint Engineers Council. Now, at WCU, he is the Program Coordinator for the Electronics Engineering Technology program, and an active developer of the Center for Integrated Technologies.
