On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students within the Kimmel School of Construction Management, Engineering and Technology at Western Carolina University, I extend our warmest welcome to you, our prospective international students.
Western Carolina University’s Kimmel School of Construction Management, Engineering and Technology is a fast-paced environment where students are given the opportunity to learn hands-on in a high tech, cutting-edge environment. The Center for Applied Technology building and the Belk building contain sixteen different laboratories, the Kimmel School of Construction Management, Engineering and Technology provides students with invaluable access and unprecedented learning experience through the industry supported machines and equipment within the labs. Twenty-eight faculty and staff members makeup this rapidly growing school which currently offers undergraduate degree programs, as well as graduate degree programs.
Our talented faculty excel in many areas, including automation, robotics, optoelectronics, lasers, computer graphics, construction management, telecommunications, and product design. The Kimmel School of Construction Management, Engineering and Technology also benefited from external funding of projects such as grants from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The Kimmel School of Construction Management, Engineering and Technology is a partner with the Carolinas MicroOptics Triangle, a collaboration of WCU, UNC-Charlotte, and Clemson University. The Kimmel School of Construction Management, Engineering and Technology also offers a joint degree in the Electrical Engineering program with UNC-Charlotte.
Currently international students from more than 25 different countries attend the University. There are a variety of offices on campus that will make your experience at Western Carolina University a memorable and comfortable one. Our International Programs and Services Office sponsors a variety of social and cultural events that assist international students in becoming part of the campus community.
