The “Wobble Steam Engine”

Wobble Steam EngineThe Wobble Engine is a semester project in MET 141 that incorporates numerous manufacturing processes and materials. The project is an air actuated, one piston engine that students build in order to reinforce information covered in lecture. The processes and skills used to manufacture the engine include blueprint reading, measuring and dimensioning, horizontal band sawing, vertical and horizontal milling, turning, boring, drilling, taping, grinding, fastening, and finishing. The materials used include: 6061 Aluminum, 1028 steel, acetyl, bronze, brass, and various rivets and screws.
